If you haven't heard of Dot TK domain, here's a short description.
Dot TK does not only provide the best URL Forwarding around, but it also allows you to use your own name servers with all your free domains.
* Simplified user interface to manage your domains
* Select either URL Forwarding, your own name servers or Dot TK DNS Service to point your domain to the right content
But don't setup a domain if you're not yet ready to promote your website. Otherwise, you have to make sure that you have at least 25 site visits within 90 days or Dot TK will delete your domain. Paid Dot TK domains are exempted.
So how can we map a Dot TK domain to work with Blogger? I was actually trying to search around hoping I'll be able to find some detailed tutorials on how to get this done. All ended up in vain. I remember that I also did some research before on How To Map GoDaddy Domain In Blogger. I checked my previous post and made some reference to it. With just some trial and errors, I finally did it.
I'm not actually getting any cents from Dot TK for doing this. But for a great free service like this, they deserve a lift. Before I am going to start with the tutorial, let me clarify that this is being divided into two parts: First with the Dot TK configuration and second on the Blogger configuration.
Here are the instructions on How To Map Dot TK Domain In Blogger:
Dot TK Configurations
1. Go to this link to start: http://www.dot.tk/en/index.html?lang=en
2. Enter your Blogger address then click Next.
3. Enter your preferred Dot TK domain for your existing Blogger address. Type the verification Code.
4. If you prefer Forwarding only, click Confirm. Otherwise select Next to configure mapping.
5. Just follow the entries on the image below by replacing it with your preferred dotTK domain
6. You will be prompted to check your email to verify your account. After verifying your account, login to your Dot TK account.
Steps 7 to 8 is actually no longer necessary if you follow correctly the Step 5 but you may proceed to further check the settings.
7. On the left Menu, expand My Domains >> List domains and then click the Modify button.
8. Select "Dot TK Free DNS Service". On the hostname, enter your preferred Dot TK domain with "www" and all the rest just follow the entries on the image below
8. Click Next and your done for Dot TK.
Blogger Configurations
1. Login to your Blogger account.
2. Go to Settings >> Publishing >> Custom Domain
3. Follow the entries on the image below. Make sure you entered properly your Dot TK domain on the domain box. Click Save and your done for Blogger.
Changes don't take effect immediately. It might take an hour or two. Just keep checking your Dot TK domain. But rest assured, mapping should take effect in less than 5 hours depends on how soon the Google DNS refreshes.
But you might want to ask the differences between Dot TK domain Forwarding and Mapping. With Forwarding, your Blogger address will just be cloaked with your Dot TK domain. Whenever you click a link within your blog, your Dot TK address on the address bar won't change. But with Mapping, you will be able to see the actual path to that link e.g. http://www.korabtech.tk/2010/04/testing.html
